Trociniarka czerwica
Trociniarka Czerwica (Cossus Cossus) - an insect of the order of butterflies, one of the largest butterfly found in Poland.
It is an insect with gray-brown coloration, a wingspan of 96 mm, with reduced suction cup. Thorax and abdomen covered with hairs. Insect active at night, flies to light. Brownish-red caterpillars grow up to 10 cm in length, are omnivorous, mainly feed on wood of deciduous trees, they eat the larvae or other butterflies.
The primary host plants trociniarki include willows, poplars and birches. Eggs are laid in the cracked bark of trees. Development lasts from 2-4 years. Pupation takes place inside the sidewalk wygryzionego in wood or earth. Track
