Cerveteri
Cerveteri is a town and comune in the Lazio region in the province of Rome. The town is famous because of the numerous Etruscan cemeteries located in the surrounding hills. This region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
One of the richest and most important cities of Etruria, formed in the village of Villanova culture. Currently, the city
preserved only fragments of walls with six gates, the remains of temples and tanks. Nearby are the cultural Villanova necropolis, vast Etruscan necropolis with numerous tombs tumulusowymi (barrows) and hypogeami. Burial chambers, with interiors similar to the interiors of residential houses are decorated with wonderful paintings and painted reliefs in stucco, of great artistic, historical and iconographic. They also found many terracotta sarcophagi and the Roman inscriptions and sculptures.
